In 2014, the Holland Central School Board of Education approved the establishment of a Wall of Honor to celebrate the achievements of former employees of the district who distinguished themselves during their years of service at HCS.
The Board created a Wall of Honor Committee consisting of the Superintendent of Schools, a representative of each of the district’s three unions, two Board members and two community residents. The Committee uses criteria for prospective nominees to the Wall.
The criteria are:
Employment with the district for at least 15 years (although an exception can be made with unanimous approval of the Committee)
Retired at least 5 years or deceased
Evidence that the nominee has made a significant impact on the district and/or the students
Each year the Wall of Honor Committee will vote on which candidates to honor. The honorees will have their pictures and brief biographies hung on the inner back wall of the Beverly Beardsell Auditorium located in the High School auditorium. The future honorees and their family members will be notified when the selection process has been completed. Their induction will be recognized in a gathering in May of 2019 at the Holland High School Auditorium.
Nominations must contain the name of the candidate and the nominator and why the former employee should be given this honor. Information can be sent to:
