Psychology and Democracy Class Students Visit Attica State Prison
Recently, 26 students from the Holland Psychology and Democracy classes visited Attica State Prison as part of their Community Awareness Program.
Students were able to see parts of the correction facility and participated in a question and answer period with corrections officers as well as a panel of prisoners. The program was set up soon after the 1971 Riot at Attica to help educate the public about realities behind bars and issues in the justice system.
Students in the picture are surrounding a memorial to the officers/employees of the prison who lost their lives in the riot.
