The New York State Assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics are quickly approaching, and once again changes have been made in the testing. Each assessment has been reduced to two days of testing and results are no longer coupled with teacher evaluations.
The schedule for our computer based testing is (grades 3-8):
ELA Assessment – Tuesday, April 2 and Wednesday, April 3
Math Assessment – Tuesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 1
There are no time limits on the assessments, but typically Holland students complete testing in 50-90 minutes. Students who finish their assessment will be allowed to read quietly.
We highly encourage all students to participate in these assessments as they provide benchmarks in the District’s curriculum and instruction and results are only compared with other schools across New York State.
If you have any questions about your child participating in the NYS Assessments, please feel free to reach out to your child’s building principal. They are available to discuss any concerns you may have.
