MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the Holland High School Vocal Department to provide a safe, encouraging environment for learning and progress towards excellence in music. We strive to instill in the students the love of choral music and work hard to help them build music skills that will help them in the classroom, as well as life skills that will help them outside of the classroom. It is believed that these music skills will be learned through understanding the vocal mechanisms, learning and using correct singing habits, performing a variety of choral repertoire, singing with expression, performing both individually and with small groups, developing sight-reading skills, developing skills to identify, define and record musical notation, and developing skills in evaluating music and performances.
