Mrs. Ruiz teaches sixth grade science and ELA at Holland Middle School. She has always been an environmentalist and wanted to work at a nature center, where she could teach children about plants, animals and how to make a difference in the world. After having children of her own, she realized that not all students had the opportunity to visit nature centers and explore the outdoors. Mrs. Ruiz found that public schools would be where she would be able to work with students of all backgrounds to share her love of science and nature. She has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Forestry as well as a master's from Buffalo State College in Education.
This is Mrs. Ruiz’s sixth year teaching at Holland. She loves the small community and wonderful families in Holland says that it feels like home. When she isn’t in the classroom, she loves hiking and adventuring with her kids, watching her son play soccer and helping her daughter with her creatures. Mrs. Ruiz’s family has snakes, pigeons, geckos and all sorts of interesting animals.
