Dear Holland Community:

As your former superintendent of eight years and now as your interim superintendent, I am honored and privileged to lead HCS. This is a wonderful community of great families and students providing a strong foundation to build upon.

Challenges abound and I remind myself that together we faced and overcame many when I was hired in 2013. We are not alone in our current struggles and for a variety of reasons the perfect storm has arisen. Change is the only constant, and we currently live in a time where that is abundant.

My primary focus, together with our dedicated Board of Education and staff, will be to continue to create a nurturing, inclusive, and innovative environment for our students. All while also fostering strong partnerships with families and the community. We will build upon the work already being done to ensure that every student receives the support and resources they need to thrive.

Together with our counterparts, we face challenging budgetary issues that have forced us to make some difficult, yet necessary, decisions. To establish solid footing for the district’s future, it is imperative we take a hard look at efficiencies while focused on our students. Although we have prevented staffing cuts in the past, we are at a crossroads where that is impossible to sustain. Working creatively without impacting the tax cap for the 2025-2026 budget, we have included two music positions instead of the one initially suggested. We are currently reviewing innovative ways to fill administrative vacancies and ensure we are adequately staffed.

I am confident that, with our collective efforts, we will continue to build upon the success of our school district and provide our students with the best possible educational experience. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to working with all of you as we embark on this exciting journey together.
