Student Board Representative

On September 5, 2024, Governor Kathy Hochul signed a new law aimed at increasing student involvement in school governance. Taking effect on July 1, 2025, the law requires all school districts with a high school to establish procedures for appointing at least one high school student to serve as an ex officio, non-voting member of their board of education.

This initiative is designed to help students develop civic engagement skills and offer valuable student perspectives in shaping district policies and decisions.

At Holland, we’re excited to begin this process and offer this meaningful leadership opportunity. We invite all interested Juniors (rising Seniors) to apply for the role of Student Representative to the Holland Board of Education.

Below, you’ll find links with more information about the selection process and the student application form.
